How often has a movie been anywhere near as good as a book? Even Hunger Games, which was a great movie, was a much better book. Even if I wrote the screenplay myself, I can still picture some train wreck of a director or actress destroying my story. Not that I would let that stop me from selling it if the opportunity arose!
