Around the World in 30 Days -- Day One

"On the Edge of Night" MMSikes
Around the World in 30 Days is the topic of my blog for the Blogger A to Z Challenge this month. The Passenger to Paradise loves beautiful and fascinating travel destinations. The Caribbean island of Anguilla is one of her favorites. She last visited the island several years ago when it was more exotic and difficult to reach than it appears to be today. At the time, the Passenger took a catamaran day trip from Simpson Bay on Sint Maarten to Anguilla. The vessel anchored off the coast of the island, and the passengers climbed into a small boat that carried them close to shore. Unfortunately, as he waded toward shore, one of the passengers dropped his 35mm camera into the rough waves that pounded the shoreline.

For the Passenger, a fantasy aura seemed to fall over the island which was quiet and not nearly so populated as Sint Maarten. Some of the resort properties she visited that day possessed the exquisite appearance of miniature wonderland palaces. Ever since that visit, the Passenger has dreamed of returning. Perhaps one day she will ...

Oh oh, dropping one's camera in the drink is not a good way to enter paradise. Have fun.

So weird to read about the camera incident. When I went to Fiji last year a friend of ours had received a new DSLR from his parents for Christmas. Not having it even 6 months. The last day in Fiji as we were boarding the boat to get off the island, he dunked his camera in the water. Ruined the camera and lost dozens of pictures he had not backed up. I felt so bad.

Francene, the Caribbean is fabulous. I love spending a week on some island and enjoying the exotic quiet of it all.

Thanks for visiting.

Thank you, Cindy. I love sunset photos but if I'm really enjoying the sight I forget to take pictures!

Hi Hilary,

So good to have you drop in. Sint Maarten is a favorite island, but it's way more congested than I like.
Still, I long to return.

Manzanita, thanks for commenting. I felt so sorry for that man, but I held on to my own camera even tighter!

Hi Chuck, I suspect that many cameras are ruined or lost like that. Sad. Even worse to lose photos you can never retake!

Thanks for stopping by!
