X is for X-Ray Tetra - A Painting a Day

A to Z Challenge

The A to Z Challenge is nearing the end. I've been creating a new animal painting each day. This week has been a special challenge for me because every day I've also been taking an amazing art workshop that was especially intense. At the end of each workshop day, I've painted a new artwork and needed to photograph it and post my blog prior to leaving the art facility before 6 p.m. For that reason, I've kept all the blog posts short. I also have been unable to go visit other bloggers in the Challenge. I'll try to make up for that when I return home.
"X-Ray Tetra" - acrylic painting copyright Mary Montague Sikes

"X" is for X-Ray Tetra, an exotic transparent fish native to the Amazon River in South America. This colorful fish is popular for home aquariums.

"X-Ray Tetra" is 10" x 8" acrylic on stretched canvas. This is the 24th painting in the Painting a Day series for the A to Z Challenge.

Well, my friend, you captured me for sure! Art has long been a passion of mine (I'll be 80 in about two weeks) and I always enjoy looking at paintings and drawings. Thank you so very much. I had to go back and look at the earlier ones posted. Best regards to you. Ruby

Thank you, Tracy, for visiting. I believe everyone can draw. That's what I teach my students.

Thank you so much for visiting, Ruby. I'm glad you went back to see the others.

Udita, thank you. It has been a challenge, but I love having all these paintings I wouldn't have created otherwise.

Hi Mary…I checked out all your paintings from A-Z. AMAZING you did one every day. WELL DONE! I am about to embark on a similar challenge…it is a website called Daily Paintworks.

You can join for $12.95 a month and display your art work and sell it there. You can paint daily or not…but when you upload a new painting, it is shown on their home page, so you get more exposure than, say, on a personal blog. They have a 1000 artists and post over 170 paintings a day…so obviously, doing a daily painting is not an easy accomplishment…so congratulations AGAIN!

I liked several of your paintings…but my favorite is X.

I am so impressed with your productivity…panting and writing and publishing…and blogging…very impressive in deed. Maybe we can email some time on any tips you might share on how to be so disciplined and organized! I would be very interested as I have been retired since 2005 and have become "Scarlet O'Hara"…"thinking about it tomorrow…."

Nice to meet you!
