"C" is for Color - A to Z Challenge

Farrah Ferand, the heroine of Evening of the Dragonfly, is a troubled young woman. Her mother died in a way she doesn't understand, so she has repressed the memories of that part of her life. As an artist, she has a special way to cope. She is working with color to create her first one-person art show.

Color is exciting and therapeutic. This painting for Farrah's show is filled with bright color. The Golden liquid Quinacridone red acrylic paint in the middle section of the second painting is strong and might make some changes necessary in yesterday's portion of the painting. It will be interesting to see how this piece turns out.

Follow Farrah as she develops a group of paintings for her show and for the A to Z Challenge

This is an interesting approach to the A to z Challenge, I don't think I visited your blog last year but I remember seeing your Challenge posts featured on the A to Z Challenge blog.

This picture feels kind of scary to me, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. I think it's the combination of the bright yellow and then the red patch to the right. My eye keeps being drawn to it and I guess my brain is saying red means danger. :-)

Those colors are so vivid and alive; I can see how painting them would be therapeutic.

Hi Monti- I'll be so interested to see how your (Farrah's) art changes ... so interesting to see the two pictures ...

Love the name Quinacridone .. cheers Hilary

Cait, this is actually the center portion of an 18" x 36" painting, so hopefully when it's finished it won't be scary. Thanks for visiting.

Melanie, painting is therapy for Farrah.

Hilary, she might continue to drift between styles. We'll see. I love the Quinacridone Golden acrylics!

Thanks, Alex. Bright and cheerful is good.

Ah, I think it won't look as scary when it's all finished and you can see the whole thing as one. ;-)

I have to say your painting is uplifting and understandably therapeutic on the mind. How about we become GFC bloggie friends?

Click, hope you'll like the finished painting which is on a 18" x 36" canvas. I'm going to probably resize that "red patch". It's going to be too heavy for the final painting.

David, thank you!

Spacerguy, thanks. I'm not sure what GFC bloggie is.

The painting is magnificent! I love the vivid colors. I love color anyway, especially in interior design and abstract art. Happy a-zing...

Thanks, Michelle. I love vivid colors, too. This will probably get toned down in the final painting to make it all work together!
