The Demise of H2--How Sad and Disappointing

"Rising Gold, A Mysterious Image" ©Mary Montague Sikes
What a huge disappointment to discover that H2 (one of my favorite all-time TV channels) has been replaced on Direct TV by a strange channel called Vice. UFOs, Roswell, space travel, ancient aliens have always intrigued me. Over the years, I've read books, articles, and other materials on the subjects. I liked the idea of hidden information being kept in a dingy location called Hangar 1. Where was (is) it located? Who knew about it?

Some of the H2 episodes involved Mayan ruins and how those mysterious structures and cities perhaps were built by "Ancient Aliens". Fascinating stuff to ponder.

Many of the programs focused on the Southwest and mysterious places like the one in my photograph. Such a wild array of book ideas came to me as my imagination flourished while watching episodes about places hidden away in mountains and deserts. I looked forward to each new adventure. Now I no longer have that exciting default channel to visit when baseball games are over.

Are any of you familiar with the H2 programs that are now gone from Direct TV? Is there a way to bring back the H2 channel? The Vice channel is a shocking and disappointing change.

It's a Vice and baseball world, Mary. No, seriously - read this for more info. H2 is no more, at least here. (Internationally, it may be a different story.) But don't blame your provider. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H2_(TV_network)
"In August 2014, A&E Networks acquired a 10% stake in Vice Media, and on November 3, 2015, A&E announced that H2 would be replaced by Viceland, a new lifestyle-focused network programmed by Vice Media. H2 signed off on February 29, 2016 at 6:00 a.m. ET, being replaced by pre-launch programming for Viceland. The H2 brand will continue to be used on international networks."

I didn't watch it, but that doesn't surprise me. Another favorite channel of mine, Palladia, used to play the coolest rock concerts and specials, ones you wouldn't see anywhere else. MTV recently purchased Palladia and changed it completely. Now it plays crap. Bummer.

Holly, thank you for your comment. H2 went off while we were away at baseball spring training. I was unaware until I finally realized the Vice mess wasn't going away!

Alex, I didn't know about Palladia. That has been one of my husband's favorites for years. I bet he doesn't know and is wondering what happened!

Hi Monti - it's not a channel we have, nor Alex' Palladia ... but yes when something stops, or is changed - so often it doesn't please any more ..

Having said that .. I'd love it if you'd look with a painterly eye at the post I did last Sunday ... I'm looking forward to your comment!
