"Xanadu Heart" ©Mary Montague Sikes |
For artists and writers, Xanadu has conjured up a world of fantasy and intrigue for eons of time. An opium-induced dream inspired Samuel Taylor Coleridge to write a poem about Xanadu. Olivia Newton John, one of my favorite singers, made a movie in 1980 that featured the song.
"Xanadu your neon lights will shine," the song claims. Perhaps the background of my Xanadu Heart depicts the feel of neon lights. Perhaps it depicts sunshine and happiness.
Love and magic live in the fantasy land that is named Xanadu. Would you like to travel there?

I can hear her singing now...
Personally, I hope Xanadu doesn't have neon lights. A few gently twinkling stars on a beach... that'll do for me!
Well done with your X post!

I'm not sure what is happening but I did leave a message yesterday here saying how I love this heart and the colour is so unique. When I think of Xanadu, I think of glitter
Hi Monti - Xanadu was written in Devon ... with the glistening sea, through lichen covered trees dripping with moss - possibly from Coleridge's walks near Culbone Church ... yourheart here relives my memories ...
Looking forward to tomorrow and the whole coming together ... cheers Hilary
