Sometimes We Get Surprised

News Flash: Caleb Pirtle highlighted my mystery/suspense/romance Night Watch on Venture Galleries today.  Please visit if you have time. It’s a nice site. I loved writing Night Watch because it brought back exciting memories of adventures we actually experienced while visiting Trinidad!

Late Sunday afternoon we headed as usual to our yoga class--a 20 to 30 minute drive from home. When we arrived at the Fitness Center, the weather was a little rainy and not too cold. I commented to someone coming in with me that we were lucky we didn't have snow. He replied that a few flakes had fallen on his windshield on the drive in.

What we found when we left the Center an hour and a half later surprised us. Thick, heavy snow had fallen the entire time we were in class. About two inches covered the ground and the roads. In the first miles we traveled from the Center, we encountered two accidents with cars in ditches by the highway. The clear empty road was now treacherous.

Fortunately, we made it home safely, but the trip took three times longer than normal. This is from the scene when we reached our house. A winter wonderland in spring--an unexpected surprise!

Wow! Glad you made it home safe. This is the craziest spring I've ever seen.

Thanks, Alex. I was nervous, but my husband is a calm driver.

I am glad someone got one last snowfall before everything turns bright green!

Thanks, Chuck. Much of it was gone by morning and all by nightfall!
