| Sunset in Sierras - MM Sikes |
Living in humid Virginia with a very long summer that often begins in April, I was surprised to discover it's still winter in the Sierras. Where we visited is 6300 feet above sea level. Our home is perhaps 14 feet above sea level which creates quite an adjustment as well as a different look to the sunsets.
It's amazing to view sunsets in different parts of our magnificent country. Seeing the mountains in the late afternoon light creates exciting views for the photographer. Comparing views from the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains with those in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is intriguing.
How many of you enjoy creating your own study of sunsets in different parts of our country?

Hi Monti .. so different - sometimes here we have wonderful views out across the bay with the moon .. different sizes .. sometimes huge and creamy coloured ... I found some wonderful sunset pictures from Cornwall in my mother's photos .. and just being on a friend's patio looking out to watch the sun go down .. nothing like it ..

Hilary, I love the idea of huge, creamy-colored moons. When they are huge here, they are orange. That usually happens in late October.
Alex, I don't like snow. They have huge piles of ugly, black covered snow that may not thaw until winter once again covers the heaps with fresh snow.
That's a great name for a novel - Sunset in the Sierras!
