"G" is for Glory - #A to Z Blogging Challenge 2017

Thinking of words for my "Spirit Visions" and A to Z projects, I have selected "G" is for Glory. So many of the church hymns I have always loved feature the word glory in them. This is one of my small, 4" x 6" paintings that inspired a mysterious poem.

Glory

In gaudy but luxurious beauty,
The sun rises to greet the day.
Land leaps from the sea
While new and strange sights appear.

Staring into the darkness,
I find colors vague and bright.
Deep inside my sketchbook,
I discover a forgotten page.

This painting causes my heart to tremble.
Unexpected glory rises in the dimness.
Yellows glow within the green,
Drops of blood grow inside my vision.

Perfect fruit falls from the tree.
I reach to pick it up.
A dream voice warns me.
Is glory this forbidden fruit?

That *is* a mysterious poem. Very cool when one piece of art inspires another. Imagine if your poem inspired a painting.

Hi Monti - lovely poem about Glory - Glory for the world - which can at times be gaudy - depends who looks upon the colours ... then of course do we pick from this gaudy tree ... beautiful vision of the greengage green ... cheers Hilary

Your painting brought to mind the Sistine Chapel's The Creation of Adam with the outstretched hand of God - was He granting the glory of life?

Great post with your pretty poem...I know the word pretty doesn't measure up to your poem but it really is touching. I love the colours used in this piece...quite striking.
