For several years, I've been checking out crab cakes in many of the restaurants we've visited on travels throughout the country. Seldom do I find one that meets my expectations. That's why I was pleased to discover that Dudley's Farmhouse Grille has an excellent crab cake on its lunch menu. Served atop a sumptuous house salad, the crab cake was all meat without any of the fillers that restaurants often add.
The quaint old farmhouse, built in 1905, is in Toano, Virginia, a village only a few miles from our little town. It's located on Rt. 60, en route to Williamsburg.
My favorite crab cake was served at Backfin in Williamsburg, but, sadly, that restaurant closed last year and the crab cake recipe did not follow to the new eatery that replaced it.
Do any of you have a favorite restaurant for crab cakes? I'd like to know about them if you do. In the meantime, I'll keep searching. I'm glad to know about Dudley's...
