"E" is for Eternity - #A to Z Blogging Challenge 2017

"E" is for Eternity. What a powerful word in the beginning week of the A to Z Blogging Challenge 2017. Perhaps it is too powerful. As I study, the little "Spiritual Visions" paintings, it is hard to select the right one for this word. I hope I have made the correct choice. Please see what you think

Eternity

Is eternity a wall through which we step?
Staring at the sky as a child
The stars glowed far away.
Reaching out now, they are closer.

Colors lessen, yet grow deeper.
Purples crawl out of the darkness.
Blues are vivid, but greens reach out to me.
Perhaps they mean an early spring.

Life dies out in the winter,
But rushes back in springtime of the year.
Plants burst from the ground.
They break through the eternal wall.

Eternity is a light that frees the darkness.
It is just beyond the wall
That we fail to see.
It touches us with quiet calm.

"D" is for Divine - #A to Z Blogging Challenge 2017

My little "Spirit Vision" images are only 4" x 6", but I see so much in each of them. That is especially true for today with "D" for Divine or The Divine. Within each of us, there is that spark. We have only to look within ourselves to find it. Or, perhaps you can study this painting. So much lies hidden within this image.

Divine

Within one moment, I see a thought
I ponder a memory
Of a lost time when I spun free
In an ultramarine universe.

The memory is lost to me now.
I reach out to snatch it away
But it lies hidden in the red sparkles of light
That once were part of me.

I wander in the netting of my dream.
I search long for lost reality.
Can I find pieces in the paint?
Can I reach divine joy in the night?

Visions change, shadows lurk.
Dreams rise, memories fail.
The Divine spark lingers
So near, yet too far for now.

"C" is for Channeling - #Blogging Challenge A to Z 2017

Looking at my small "Spirit Visions" watercolor paintings, it was difficult to choose the one for "C" - Channeling. This spiritual word causes me to pause and think: What is channeling?

Channeling

So much in touch with the Universe
But not really in touch at all.
Pen in hand, sometimes I listen
And write the words and hear the songs.

Sometimes I listen, but not always.
Sometimes I hear, but I don't recall the words.
Sometimes words flow freely.
Like magic, they fly faster than I can think.

These are not my words.
The Universe reaches out and flows through me.
I need only listen; I need only to hear
In the quiet of the night.

"B" is for Belief - #Blogging A to Z Challenge 2017

"Belief, Spirit Visions" ©Mary Montague Sikes
For the A to Z Challenge, I am using a selection of my Spirit Visions paintings. Today, the word "belief" comes to me. This is my little watercolor, "Belief".

What does the word belief mean to you? Is it a spiritual word?

Belief

Colors blur my vision and I wonder why.
Do I look at the world through rose-colored glasses?
Is quiet color hidden from view?
Colors blend and blur, and I believe.

What I see and what I know are different.
I see less than what I believe.
But sometimes what I see is more.
Sometimes new colors lie hidden in the realm.

My journey nears its end, and I see less than before.
Colors grow more quiet, but I believe more.
Is blue more perfect than purple?
On this journey, did I learn to believe?

A is for Abundance - #Blogging A to Z Challenge

"Abundance - Spirit Visions" ©Mary Montague Sikes

I have an art project called "Spirit Visions". This is one of the paintings from the series. For the A to Z Challenge, I plan to display some of the paintings.
The first is called "Abundance". What does abundance mean for you? Perhaps it is an Abundance of the Spirit.

Abundance

Within the walls of my heart
Abundance glows with mysterious magic.
Trouble vanishes within the mist
And fantasy rises like glory beneath the veil.

I worry that I shall not recall the journey here.
Perhaps this gentle image will vanish in the night.
If it does, the memory will stay, the fog will lift
And I will go transformed beyond the veil.

Little secrets lie hidden all around.
I look for them, and it matters not that they are gone.
Beyond my plight a strange light arises
And I see the revolution within the veil.
