A to Z Challenge
Deciding an animal for the letter "J" was easy. Jaguar. In my last "Passenger to Paradise" novel, a jaguar suddenly appeared in my story. It was completely unplanned. Billy was a black jaguar and became a character in Jungle Jeopardy, an adventure story Indiana Jones-style! I loved this animal. My creation for today is not black, but he reminds me of Billy."On the Hunt" -acrylic painting ©Mary Montague Sikes |
This painting is 11" x 14" acrylic on gallery-wrapped stretched canvas. This canvas is 1 1/2" deep, giving it more presence than the 3/4" normal depth.
Hope everyone is enjoying the A to Z Challenge.

That is a gorgeous painting! Love the colours.
Jaguars are such beautiful animals. I love the expression on your jaguar's face, so cat-like and just perfect. :)
Oh my goodness! You're painting something everyday for this challenge? That's fantastic. As is this painting of the jaguar... though I think the iguana is my favourite so far ;)
Yet another gorgeous painting!
Looks like a cub - well done!
Jaguars are such interesting animals to observe.
Beautiful painting. Love it when characters or animals appear in our stories completely unplanned.

I'm enjoying your parade of animals. How long does it take you to do one painting?

A beautiful animal. Your hard work really shows! How long on average does it take to paint these?
The eyes make the whole painting, Monti. You have your own series in acrylic/canvas paintings. Jaguar was a great choice.

Sally, thanks for stopping by. It takes longer that I expect for each painting. Often, I think about it and plan in my mind what I'm going to do. Probably three hours in the studio at least per painting.
JoJo, thank you!!!
